What we aim for

This site targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Housing is not a category where an inaccessible interface is a minor inconvenience — if you cannot use the search, you cannot see the homes, and that is a fair-housing problem as much as a technical one.

How this site is built

• Everything works from the keyboard. The neighbourhood panel, the mobile drawer, the gallery, the filters, the payment estimator and the customizer are all fully operable without a mouse, with visible focus indication throughout.
• The search works without JavaScript. All 56 homes are in the HTML and visible when scripting is off, with a note explaining that the filters need JavaScript.
• Result counts are announced. Filtering updates a live region, so a screen-reader user hears how many homes matched rather than having to discover it.
• Semantic structure. One h1 per page, ordered headings, real landmarks, real form labels, and aria-* only on custom widgets that need it.
• Contrast. Body text meets 4.5:1 against its background. The customizer derives its text colours by measuring contrast against a fixed bound rather than applying a fixed offset, and the page background and ink are excluded from recolouring entirely — so no colour preset can produce an unreadable page.
• Motion. Every animation honours prefers-reduced-motion. The card tilts, the pointer sweep, the scroll reveals and the filling ribbon all switch off, and each layout is designed to be correct with no motion at all.
• Targets. Interactive controls are at least 44×44 CSS pixels, including inside the customizer panel.
• Text. Fluid type with no text below 14px, and layouts that survive text zoom to 200%.

Known limitations

• The photographs are decorative or illustrative. Listing images carry descriptive alt text naming the room and the address, but a photograph cannot fully convey a property; the specification table and the written description are the authoritative content.
• The hand-drawn neighbourhood street plans are marked as presentational. They are visual shorthand, not maps, and no information exists only inside them.
• The gallery is a scroll-snap track. It is operable by keyboard and by swipe, but on some older browsers the snap position can settle a pixel or two off centre.
• This is a demonstration build and has not been through an independent audit or user testing with assistive technology. A production build should have both.
